    Texas real estate exam: what to bring checklist

    Print this the night before. Check off everything you are bringing, then scan the do-not-bring list so nothing in your pockets gets you turned away at the door.

    IdentificationTwo signature IDs

    Primary is government photo ID with a signature; secondary has a signature.

    Name matchMust match exactly

    The name on your IDs must match your registration, or you forfeit the fee.

    Arrival30 minutes early

    Report early for check-in, ID review, photo, and digital signature.

    Bring this

    • Two forms of current signature identification (required, or you are turned away)
    • Primary ID: government-issued, photo-bearing, and signed (not expired)
    • Secondary ID: a second current ID that contains your signature
    • Names on both IDs match your Pearson VUE registration exactly
    • A permitted hand-held financial calculator, no letter keys (optional but recommended)
    • Your exam date, time, and test center location confirmed
    • Plan to arrive 30 minutes before your appointment

    Acceptable IDs

    Primary ID (photo and signature, not expired):

    • Government-issued driver license
    • U.S. Department of State driver license
    • U.S. learner's permit (plastic card with photo and signature)
    • National, state, or country identification card
    • Passport or passport card
    • Military ID, including for spouses and dependents
    • Alien Registration Card (Green Card, Permanent Resident Visa)

    Secondary ID (signature, not expired):

    • U.S. Social Security card
    • Debit (ATM) or credit card
    • Any ID from the primary list

    Do NOT bring into the testing room

    • Cell phone, or a phone used as a calculator
    • Smartwatch, tablet, hand-held computer, pager, or other electronic device
    • A calculator with letter (alpha) keys, such as most graphing calculators
    • Bags, purse, wallet, coats, or hats
    • Books, notes, study sheets, or your own scratch paper
    • Pens or pencils (the center provides note-taking material)
    • Outside food or drink at the workstation
    • Firearms or other weapons
    • Any ID whose name does not match your registration

    What happens at check-in

    • Report 30 minutes early and check in with the test center administrator
    • Present both IDs for review; you are photographed and give a digital signature
    • Review and sign the Candidate Rules Agreement
    • Take the short computer tutorial (its time does not count against your exam time)
    • Store all personal items in a secure area or return them to your vehicle
