CHECK ELIGIBILITY BEFORE THE CALENDAR
Retake the failed portion while authorized and while your application and any passed result remain valid. TREC separately keeps each passed section valid for one year from its passing date. After a third consecutive failed examination, TREC Rule §535.57 requires mandatory qualifying education completed after the third failure before reexamination or a new application. Use the failed-exam guide before setting dates if any of those rules may affect you. To fill the checklist, use the score-report worksheet or build your retake plan online.

How to use the 14 days
These 14 days are an optional study sequence, not a required wait or a promise of readiness. Repeat a phase when you need more review. If a deadline is close or extra education is required, resolve that with TREC before choosing an appointment. More study does not extend your application or a passed result.

Investigate mistakes in fresh practice
A score-report category cannot identify the cause. Log rule gaps, reading errors, math setups and pacing issues from your practice

Days 4-9Day 4: Review your weakest topic
If topics seem equally weak, start with the higher outline weight. Study the rule, then try a short unfamiliar set
Day 5: Repair the second-highest weak topic
Day 6: Recheck the first two topics with fresh questions
Day 7: Follow your failed portion
National: repair weak calculations. State: work on a weak Texas rule or form
Day 8: Repair the next missed pattern
Use your report and practice log. If both portions failed, keep a separate block for each
Day 9: Wording trap session

Simulate & Confirm
Days 10-14Day 10: Timed practice for the failed portion, without study notes
Use a permitted calculator for math. Match the timer to the practice set, not automatically to a full official appointment
Score by topic area and make a final miss list
Days 11-12: Repair remaining misses and refresh stronger topics
Check every content area before retesting, with more time on persistent gaps
Day 13: Second fresh timed set for the failed portion
Review the practice evidence
Check pacing, persistent errors and guessed answers. A passing practice score does not guarantee an official pass
Day 14: Review readiness and eligibility before choosing a retake date
Before your booked exam: prepare IDs and permitted materials, then protect sleep.

Practice readiness checks
- Use unfamiliar questions; a remembered answer gives limited evidence
- Review persistent mistakes and every content area in the failed portion
- Relevant calculations or Texas rule decisions work without notes
- EXCEPT / NOT errors are controlled
- The application and any passed-section dates have been checked
- Admission items are verified before the appointment
- Book when eligibility and practice evidence support it
Exam Day Reminders
Report 30 minutes early for check-in
Bring two current signature IDs in English with exact name matches; the primary must be government-issued and photo-bearing
Bring a permitted handheld financial calculator if you use one
Use only issued testing materials for notes or formulas
Answer every item and use only the review controls shown in the tutorial
Watch for EXCEPT and NOT (they flip the question)
Ask permission before leaving the room; lost time is not restored
