Law & License

    Continuing Education (CE)

The approved coursework a Texas license holder must complete each renewal period to keep a license active.

Continuing education is the coursework required to keep a Texas real estate license active for each renewal period after the first. It includes required Legal Update courses covering law and ethics, plus elective hours. A license holder completes CE before renewing.

Continuing education is different from the one-time Sales Apprentice Education due before a sales agent's first renewal.

    On the exam

CE keeps a license active for renewals after the first and includes the required Legal Update courses. SAE is the separate first-renewal requirement.

    Exam trap

Do not confuse recurring continuing education with the one-time Sales Apprentice Education required before the first renewal.
