How to schedule the Texas real estate exam, and reschedule without losing your fee.
Reserving with Pearson VUE, the 24-hour booking rule, the $43 fee, the 48-hour change deadline, and what counts as an excused absence.
Once TREC sends your eligibility letter, reserve online or by phone at least 24 hours ahead (no walk-ins). The $43 fee is paid when you book. To change or cancel without losing it, call Pearson VUE at least 48 hours before your exam.
Six things to know before you book.
Scheduling is simple once you are eligible, but the timing rules and the fee policy are where candidates get caught.
You can only reserve once TREC has sent your eligibility letter with your TREC ID number. Pearson cannot schedule you before that.
Reserve online at the Pearson VUE Texas real estate page, or by phone at (800) 997-1248. First-time users create an account.
Make your reservation at least 24 hours before the date you want. Walk-in examinations are not available.
The $43 sales exam fee is paid at the time of reservation by credit/debit card or voucher. Payment is not accepted at the test center.
Call Pearson VUE at least 48 hours before the exam to change or cancel. Miss that window and you forfeit the fee.
On exam day, report to the test center 30 minutes before your appointment for check-in and ID.
What Pearson VUE asks for when you book.
Gather these before you start so the reservation takes a few minutes, not a frustrating half hour.
Your legal name
It must match the government photo ID you will bring to the test center. A mismatch can mean denied admission and a forfeited fee.
Contact details
A physical mailing address, email address, and daytime phone number for your Pearson VUE account and appointment.
Your TREC ID number
It comes from the TREC eligibility letter. Pearson needs it to register you for the correct exam.
