Metes and Bounds
A legal description that starts at a point of beginning and traces directions, distances, and monuments around a parcel.
A metes and bounds description identifies land by its boundaries. It starts at a fixed point of beginning, then gives a series of directions and distances, called courses, that trace the perimeter and must close by returning to the point of beginning.
It is often used for irregularly shaped parcels that do not fit neatly into the rectangular government survey system.
